Mentorship
Group mentorship is especially effective for building teamwork, confidence, and leadership skills, and it helps girls feel less isolated as they face common challenges. By participating in these programs, girls gain access to positive role models, practical resources, and a supportive network that encourages them to pursue their goals and thrive.
-
One or more mentors work with a group of girls, encouraging collaborative learning and peer support. This setup allows girls to form friendships, practice teamwork, and learn from each other’s experiences.
-
We empower older girls to mentor younger peers, giving both groups valuable leadership and communication experience while fostering a cycle of support and inspiration.
-
Community leaders—such as business owners, nonprofit directors, educators, or civic officials—are invited to serve as mentors, sharing their expertise and life experience with mentees in the community.
Financial Literacy
For Girls Like Quaneisha helps young girls get real about money. We offer hands-on support - business think tanks with mentors, hands-on entrepreneurial support, and lots of encouragement. Our goal is to teach girls how to make money in the real world and manage simple and practical money decisions like saving, spending, and planning for the future. Here’s how they help girls build real-world financial skills:
-
We offer group sessions where girls share ideas, ask questions, and brainstorm solutions. It’s a safe space to talk about money, business, and real-life challenges.
-
Girls get to roll up their sleeves and try out business ideas-whether it’s starting a small project, running a pop-up shop, or creating a product. It’s all about learning by doing.
-
We place girls in real life situations of making financial decisions, offer guidance, encouragement, and real-world advice. Mentors help girls set goals, solve problems, and build confidence.
Leadership Skills
We offer leadership skills programs with an entrepreneurial focus through a variety of hands-on, community-based, and mentorship-driven activities. Here are several examples of how such programs might be structured, drawing from proven models and local initiatives:
-
We offer group sessions where girls work in teams to develop business ideas, create presentations, and pitch them to a panel of judges. This format helps build public speaking, teamwork, and critical thinking skills while exposing participants to the entrepreneurial process
-
We facilitate networking opportunities where girls can meet local business owners, community leaders, and peers. This helps them build confidence, expand their professional networks, and learn from others’ experiences
-
Pair girls with established entrepreneurs or business leaders from the community for small group mentoring. Mentors guide participants through the steps of launching a project or business, offer feedback, and help set achievable goals
Essential Life Skills
Through hands-on activities, girls learn to manage their own money, make thoughtful decisions about their time and responsibilities, and stand up for themselves. At the same time, they practice working together-learning how to listen, collaborate on group projects, and support each other through challenges. These skills empower girls to confidently navigate everyday situations, solve problems, and build strong relationships, whether they’re working on their own or alongside their peers.
-
Girls learn how to express themselves clearly, listen to others, and work together. For example, they might practice starting conversations, resolving conflicts, or supporting a teammate during group projects.
-
Girls practice making thoughtful choices and finding solutions to real-life challenges. This could include brainstorming ways to handle a disagreement or planning how to balance schoolwork and activities on their own.
